About Jim Sala

Jim Sala

Worship Minister

My name is Jim Sala and my wife's name is Kaci. I was born in Springfield, Missouri while my father was attending Baptist Bible College. My wife was born in McComb, Mississippi and grew up in Brookhaven, Ms until moving to the gulf coast in 2002. We were married in 2012 and currently have one child, James David. One unique thing that Kaci and I share is our birthday which is January 21st.

I was born into a very musical family and have been involved with music since I was very young. My father was our "Song Leader" and "Youth Minister" at the church I grew up in, Metropolitan Baptist Church. Both of my parents played in the band in high school and I was in the Lee High School Choir and later in the choir at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where I received my degree. My younger brother Mark Sala writes, plays, and performs music all over Michigan and, the Midwest. Both Mark and my other brother Josh also played in the high school band, like our parents.

I am the oldest of five children and was brought up in a very spiritual and Godly environment as my parents took us to church and showed us the value of faith and fellowship. However, the "world" is very appealing in what it has to offer and as a teenager I decided to take a path away from God. After a battle with addiction and losing almost everything I finally turned my life over to the Lord in 2007. Upon completion of Teen Challenge, I moved to the Mississippi gulf coast area to serve in a recovery center called Mercy House. In early 2008, while serving at Mercy House, I felt specifically called to attend Temple Baptist Church and later joined the church and subsequently the praise team. In July 2011 I was formally called by the church to serve as Minister of Music and have been here ever since.

My life verse is Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." No matter what you are facing God has a plan and a purpose for you and your life.

God Bless
